María Ximena González-Serrano is currently a PhD candidate in Advanced Studies in Human Rights at the University Carlos III of Madrid, Spain, within the Social Sciences Department. Her doctoral thesis, titled “Waters and Rivers in Law: Plural Ontologies, Historical Claims and Legal Disputes of Black and Indigenous Peoples in Guatemala and Colombia,” is expected to be completed in 2024.
