Prior to this, she completed her Ph.D. in Chemistry at Mangalore University, Mangalagangotri, Karnataka, India, from February 2016 to March 2022. Under the supervision of Prof. Boja Poojary, her dissertation explored the synthesis, characterization, and biological studies of nitrogen and sulfur-containing heterocycles. Dr. Kamat also holds an M.Sc. in Chemistry with a specialization in Medicinal Chemistry, which she obtained from Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar College, Ujire, Karnataka, India, in 2013, graduating with first-class distinction (70.81%).

She is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the Centre for Nano and Material Sciences, Jain University, Bengaluru, Karnataka, where she has been working since October 2022.
