Prof. Mohamed Mostafa Ramadan Ahmed is a highly accomplished Associate Professor at the Faculty of Technology and Education, Helwan University. With a robust academic background, he holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Helwan University (1989), an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University (1994), a Diploma in Teaching Methods from Northumbria University, UK (2000), and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Northumbria University, UK (2002). His doctoral thesis focused on the “Development of a Solid-State Fault Current Limiting and Interrupting Device Suitable for Low Voltage Distribution Networks.” Prof. Ahmed has a rich professional experience that includes roles such as Research Fellow at Warwick University, Visiting Lecturer at the University of Northumbria, and Head of the Electrical Technology Department at the Industrial Education College in Cairo. His research interests are centered around power electronics, fault current limiting, and renewable energy systems. He is a recipient of multiple awards and scholarships, including full scholarships from the Egyptian government for his PhD and sabbatical studies. Education

Prof. Mohamed Mostafa Ramadan Ahmed has an impressive educational background in Electrical Engineering. He began his academic journey with a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Helwan University, Egypt, in 1989. He then pursued an MSc in Electrical Engineering at Cairo University, Egypt, completing it in 1994. Further enhancing his pedagogical skills, he earned a Diploma in Teaching Methods from the School of Education, Northumbria University, UK, in 2000. Prof. Ahmed completed his academic qualifications with a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the School of Engineering, Northumbria University, UK, in 2002. His PhD research focused on the development of a solid-state fault current limiting and interrupting device suitable for low voltage distribution networks, showcasing his deep expertise in electrical engineering.

Professional Experience

Prof. Mohamed Ahmed has a rich and varied professional background in academia and industry. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Technology and Education, Helwan University. He has also held the position of Research Fellow at Warwick University, School of Engineering, from May 2007 to September 2009, and was a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Northumbria from 2006 to 2007. Prior to these roles, he was the Head of the Electrical Technology Department at the Industrial Education College in Cairo, Egypt, from 2004 to 2005, and a Lecturer at both the Information and Technology Institute and the Industrial Education College in Cairo from 2002 to 2006. Prof. Ahmed has also lectured part-time at Northumbria University between 1999 and 2002 while pursuing his PhD there. Earlier in his career, he gained international experience as a Lecturer at Abha Technical College in Saudi Arabia and served as a Demonstrator and Lecturer at the National Civil Aviation Training Institute in Cairo. His diverse roles have equipped him with extensive teaching and research experience in electrical engineering.
