Gabriel Kamsu Tchuente earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Pharmacology from the University of Dschang, Cameroon, in 2021, where his research focused on the anti-Salmonella, antioxidant, and toxicological properties of Tectona grandis L.f. (Verbenaceae) extracts. Prior to his doctoral studies, he completed a Master of Science in Biochemistry in 2017 and a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Biochemistry in 2015, both at the University of Dschang. He began his academic journey with a Baccalauréat D (G.C.E. A’ level) from Lycée de Bayangam, Cameroon, in 2012.
Professional Experience
Gabriel Kamsu Tchuente currently serves as a Post-doctoral Researcher in the Cancer Epidemiology and Pharmacology Research Group (CEPRG) at Walter Sisulu University’s Department of Human Biology, Faculty of Health Sciences, in South Africa, a position he has held since July 2023. Previously, from 2017 to 2019, he was responsible for monitoring and maintaining equipment at the Research Unit of Microbiology and Antimicrobial Substances (RUMAS) within the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Dschang, Cameroon.
Research Interest
Gabriel Kamsu Tchuente’s research interests are diverse and encompass several key areas of biochemistry and pharmacology. He is particularly focused on the epidemiology of head and neck cancers, including oral and esophageal cancers, aiming to understand their prevalence and contributing factors. His work also involves the exploration of novel antimicrobial and anticancer agents to address resistance phenomena, with a specific emphasis on natural products. Additionally, he investigates the anti-Salmonella properties of natural extracts, exploring their mechanisms of action. His research extends to bioinformatics and genomics applications in health research, as well as evaluating antioxidant activities and conducting toxicological assessments of medicinal plants.

Notably, he achieved the highest distinction in his Ph.D. defense at the University of Dschang, Cameroon, in 2021, reflecting his exceptional scholarly contributions.
