Dr. Youngah Do is an Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics at The University of Hong Kong (HKU), where she specializes in phonology, language acquisition, and cognitive linguistics. Her academic journey reflects a distinguished record of excellence, beginning with her B.A. in English Linguistics from Seoul National University, where she graduated summa cum laude. She continued at the same institution to complete her M.A. in English Linguistics, further solidifying her foundation in theoretical and applied language studies. Driven by a deep interest in the cognitive mechanisms underlying linguistic structure, she pursued and earned her Ph.D. in Linguistics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), one of the world’s leading centers for linguistic research. Before joining HKU, Dr. Do served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Georgetown University, where she taught and mentored students while continuing to advance her research. Her academic career is marked by a series of prestigious honors and fellowships, reflecting her scholarly impact and leadership in the field.
